TYLER, TX (KLTV) – There are some special visitors in the city of Tyler. A delegation from Yachiyo City, Japan arrived this morning as a part of Tyler Sister Cities.
During their visit, they will tour UT Tyler and TJC, and participate in a few Rose Festival events.
The mayor of Yachiyo City says he hopes to promote cultural understanding between the citizens of both cities.
“It is not just as a sightseeing. There is a relationship between cities so we get to know more about Tyler and people and culture. And that is the most important thing,” Yachiyo mayor Toshiro Toyoda said through a translator.
Tyler and Yachiyo City have been sister cities since 1992, and have sent delegations to visit each other 10 times.
