Diana Pemberton, an Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) through the sister city partnership between Tyler, Texas and Yachiyo, Japan, was invited to speak to the international association in Yachiyo City on November 25, 2016.
Pemberton presented a lecture on textile art, displayed some of her works, and taught a workshop.
Attendees enjoyed their experience and had fun.
Since 1991, dozens of Texas teachers have lived in Yachiyo and taught in junior high schools located throughout Yachiyo City. The ALT Program provides native English speakers in these classrooms, sharing not only language, but also cultural connections to the United States.
