Tyler Sister Cities annual membership meeting celebrates accomplishments, looks to future

At its annual membership meeting, the Tyler Sister Cities organization celebrated successes over the past year and set out its vision and goals for the next year.

On Tuesday, May 20, 2025, board president Michael Howell thanked the University of Texas at Tyler for generously hosting the meeting at their Alumni House on campus.

Tyler Sister Cities members enjoyed hors d’oeuvres while mingling, before a presentation outlined major accomplishments over the last year, including the launch of a new content-rich website with a secure payment portal, a brand refresh with new logo, humanitarian aid fundraising, updated bylaws, signing a partnership with UT Tyler to house and digitize the Tyler Sister Cities archives, participating in Tyler Junior College’s annual International and Passport Day, and began planning for two upcoming delegation visits from Poland and Japan.

Several board members with expiring terms were re-elected to new three-year terms, as well as the approval of couple of new board members.

Directors returning to the board include Henry Bell, Tom Mullins, Cynthia Martinez, and Jeremy Strickland. Susan Travis and Nancy Slough were welcomed as new additions to the board.

Tyler Sister Cities would like to express sincere appreciation for the devoted service of Diann Bayes and Jeranda Dennis, who are departing the board at the conclusion of their terms this month.
